Award-winning geneticist to participate in Surgical Forum

The Surgical Forum is honored to announce that Janet Davison Rowley, MD—the Blum Riese Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine, Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology and Human Genetics at the University of Chicago (IL)—will participate as a special invited commentator in the Genetic Determinants of Disease and Outcomes session of the Surgical Forum. The session will take place today between 2:30 and 5:45 pm in McCormick Place West, Room W187A. At the beginning of the session, Dr. Rowley, who recently was bestowed with the 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom and selected for the 2009 Genetics Prize of The Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation, will give a brief talk about her own work as it relates to understanding genetic changes in cancer.
